- Lean 90/10 ground beef to cut down on sodium and fat
- Plain panko breadcrumbs (with only 40 mg of salt per 1/2 cup, unlike regular breadcrumbs with 200-600 mg of salt)
- No-salt added ketchup (with just 5 mg of sodium per serving, unlike regular ketchup’s 180 mg)
- Herbs and spices for flavor without extra sodium
- Egg as a binder to keep the meatloaf together
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, mix all the meatloaf ingredients with a fork. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
- Lightly grease a loaf pan and put the meatloaf mixture in it, shaping it evenly.
- Bake the meatloaf for 40 minutes.
- After 40 minutes, add your chosen low-sodium glaze or sauce on top of the meatloaf.
- Continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
